Start by increasing your spend at a level of 5% three times a week as long as your business can afford the added cost. If your profit ratio stays the same or improves, keep scaling. If you do this right, you'll be able to double your budget every month. Run fewer, smarter campaigns that scale with compounding interest.

How to get second purchase without retargeting? Why are you not retargeting? Also, build a good business. Send emails. So, the idea of why you're not retargeting, let me put it this way. Don't have exclusions on your purchasers. Let all of your ads retarget. There you go.

So step number two, we need to build a profitable ad account. Most businesses run their ads like chaos. There's 10 different campaigns with 50 new ads every single week and just chasing anything with a profit. That's not sustainable. That's rarely ever profitable. And it'll make you rip your hair out before you make any money. You should have one hero campaign focusing on selling the best product that most often gets people to buy from you a second time. You could also have a catalog campaign that shows people all of the products you buy. And you can have a rebuttal upsell campaign so that…

Because how do you make more money? Well, you increase the volume of purchases. So your CPA comes down. You increase the frequency of purchases. So your LTV goes up. Or you increase the AOV. So the LTV goes up. Well, now your business is simple. Which one of those things do I need to improve?

So for instance, if your CPA is 50 and your AOV is 50, your profit is zero. But if your second purchase rate is 20% and your cash flow cadence is 45 days, on day 46, you begin to make 10% profit per sale. Now you have cash flow. You can invest that into your growth.

When you launch an ad, Facebook will show that ad to the low hanging fruit, which is why when you launch an ad, it generally does better. And then it gets a little bit worse. And then it begins to rise back to some mean. And this is one reason why everybody says, well, the more ads you launch, as long as you're constantly launching new ads, you're going to have good results. And it's because they're only taking advantage of those first three days. And it's also why the results are really unstable and why there are CPMs are rising every year because they don't have any ads that actually learn…

Start to qualify the leads that you get. Now, what I told a contractor solutions guy right before this was, is there a second action you're going to have people take? Can we map that out as some version of an engaged lead? I'm going to send him an email that says, please book, please click here to book a call with They don't click that button. It's a bad lead. I'm going to see that inside the dashboard is a separate column called engaged lead. If I pixel that event, now I can understand of my ads, which one buy me shit leads and which one buy me engaged leads. The immediate way to improve…

The goal of a Facebook ad isn't to get a high ROAS. It's to acquire cash flow at a profit. This means getting customers at a cost that allows you to invest in them long term. Step number three, measure profit, not ROAS. If you take one thing from this video, please let it be. ROAS is complete bullshit. People love bragging about a 5x ROAS, but a return on ad spend isn't profit. What matters is how much profit you make for every dollar you spend.

Now the question becomes, is there a way to qualify those leads after the fact? Can we do something like an engaged lead? But when you get information from somebody, is there some follow-up action? But it also means that if it took that second action, you can track that that second action happened. Of those 100 leads, let's say only 20% of it. Let's say only 20 people actually clicked that button that came in that email. Well, now you're able to say that my cost per lead might have been, you know, 10 bucks or whatever it is. But if only half of those people or 20% of those people are the ones…

Ad set can't get out of learning mode because of low conversions. When you're selling something that expensive, it can be difficult. Here's the thing. If it's good for you, continue to push. Look, if you're not, if you're not out of learning, but you're making money, you don't have a problem. What I love here is that you're spending 160 bucks to sell something over a thousand. Like it seems like you're doing pretty good. The honest truth is with 22 rooms, I think you're going to struggle to get your Facebook The upside is you probably don't need to worry about that. So before you even spend a dollar on ads, I want you to ask yourself three simple questions. Number one, am I selling something, anything that people would like to buy more than once? Number two, do I actually know how much I can afford to spend on acquiring a customer? And number three, am I trying to optimize for long term growth or short term sales?
Scalable growth doesn't come from assembling a dozen small victories. You have to solve your problems in the most simple way. Simple scales, complex fails. Complexity is the enemy of a solution. The answer is rarely ever to make things more complicated. And the number one piece of advice I had to all of them was just get rid of the things wasting your money. There was one guy with eight campaigns that had between 47 and 82 ads live. And I was literally like, bro, just eliminate the worst 10 ads every day for like the next month.

And the first one of these things that I really want to focus on is called profitable scaling margin. You focus on ROAS and MER. And you live in the daily results. First order profitability, profit margin and attribution. The honest truth is optimizing for the fun was only 50% of the gain. The other 50% is optimizing for the customer journey.
We need to understand our hero offers. And we need to make a hero. And I recommend people make a hero offer table. So you can understand what your cash flow cadence is based off your second purchase rate. So, for instance, if we have a product that costs $30 and it takes 25 days for somebody to buy again and 30% of people buy, if we start off on day one with a $1,000 budget, we're going to make 33 sales, right? $1,000 divided by $30 CPAs, roughly 33 sales. If we don't increase the budget at all, but we know on average on day 25 people buy a second time, well, that means we're getting an…

Not all attention is the same. Different ads attract different people. Different offers attract different people. And different people behave differently. So basically, every time you launch a new ad, you're making the acquisition of attention more difficult. And the monetization of that attention more difficult. It's attracting different types of people that are interested in different things. And why that really matters is if you destabilize the attention to make the monetization of that effort more difficult, then getting future cash flow is also more difficult.
If we get rid of those engaged lead people and we get rid of the, like, the, ads that are buying people that don't actually get there, we're going to make massive improvements We can make ads that attract good people. And more importantly, we're training the machine to understand who those good people are. The fact that people continue to say launch more ads instead of teach the machine what success looks like boggles my mind. more and more ads fundamentally doesn't understand how Facebook works.

ROAS is how much profit or credit for each sale can we give the marketer a channel? Profitable scaling margin is how much more money can we spend to acquire any transaction at a profit? In this case, the farmer can spend 17% more money to acquire each transaction in that customer journey and still make the same volume of profit. Margin isn't money. Volume of profit is money. 100% margin on $100 is $100 profit. 1% margin on $1,000,000 is $10,000 profit. Or do you want to make, do you want to have a 2x ROAS? Or do you want to make 100 times more money?

The honest truth is, David, if your buyers are very price sensitive, you have to work on your offer. If it's a product, a product is not an offer. And our offer says for 50 bucks, you get a $2,000 course, weekly calls. Or I can give you access to it in an offer for 50 bucks a month. That's the difference between a product and an offer. Or you can get 40 people to pay you 50 bucks a month. That's the difference between an offer and a product. If you have a premium price product, oftentimes the struggle you'll have is that you don't have an offer with which to sell that product. And that's what…

If you're running e-commerce, products cost money to make. That second purchase isn't a reoccurring revenue on some access to information. If you have anybody buy from you a second time, products cost money to make. The honest truth is LTV2CAC is built around a relationship that says there's only one time But in e-commerce, that's fundamentally not true. LTV2CAC is not an e-commerce business relationship. It's a SaaS company or membership relationship business. And if you do not have a membership subscription-based business, the idea of LTV2CAC being anything you should care about is complete…

Quick question for you about starting a campaign from scratch. If it's a brand new business and I have no ads with data for the control ad set, how do I go about starting the business? Just two DCTs, testing two concepts? Yeah, Remy. And if you're just starting out, why not do three? And then pick one of those three is going to be not good, right? You're going to have an odd dot. So whatever the black sheep is out of those three, get rid of it.
No sales pitch works with only having a close. Generally, there's the handshake, there's the elevator pitch, and then the close. Top, middle, bottom, funnel. You need all of those things in order to be successful. But when you focus on high ROAS ads only, every single time you try to scale them, they'll fail.

In general, I unchecked the multi-advertiser ad. I mean, it's an option. I like to not have more variables when looking at my ads. And the idea that I don't know what advertisers are with it, it's just I don't need it. There's no real logic behind it other than like it's more complicated and I don't need to be more complicated. So I'm just not going to do it.

So at the end of the day, here are the three different kind of campaigns. You need to understand a hero offer. That's your cash flow device. Then you get a volume of transaction device. My recommendation is a catalog ad. And then you get a rebuttal upsell where you're able to ultimately charge people more money, get the AOV above your LTV and have that be something that you show your 10K audience

But here's the one thing that the top 1% of marketers understand. Making a sale at a profit is not the same as a scalable business. A good business is what scales ads. Not all customers are created equal. The first sale is the least profitable. And the end of the funnel is the first sale. And that's where the customer journey begins. So ultimately, this transformation brings us to part number two, which is going from being a salesperson to buying the right customer.

How can I see how each creative is performing? It doesn't matter how each creative is performing. What matters is, is your business strong enough for you to scale your spend? If the answer is yes, then it doesn't matter which one's performing. It's the collective investment pool.
