They started becoming more comfortable with measuring based on top-line metrics alone. So in the beginning, they were used to looking at every single channel individually. So they had channel-specific targets. So there was a certain NCEG target for Meta, a certain target for TikTok, and a target for Google, which, as you know, never works because the channels behave differently. And Google often just steals credit from the other channels, which was the case here as well. So over time, we got rid of all of that and we just started tracking total ad spend, total revenue, of course, total units…

and that represented for about 20% of their total advertising budget. That we only controlled about 20%. But the difficulty was that we couldn't really use top-line metrics yet because we only controlled about 20% of the ad spend. Realistically, we only controlled meta and TikTok, we controlled more than half of their advertising spend. And that's truly when we could start to make a bigger impact, bigger decisions, and start to move budgets around between the channels.

yeah I mean I think I discourage people from paying for North or any third-party tool until you've really understood your business and how to perform well on channels on their own I think it's only when you're starting to say look we're really going to start scaling we're going to invest in a lot of video content a lot of new creative and we're going to invest in it heavily then I think at that point it makes sense to to invest in nor be more you each channel the best you can and focusing on getting each Channel humming well is kind of the first step before you start and then and then once…

I would say if you have enough ads, if you have a high enough ad spend to hire anybody to do it for you, like an agency in-house freelancer, that's the time. It's usually when you're handing something off to another person, you both are going to have to watch the same metrics, which is usually top line. But that person is going to be using a third-party attribution tool in order to know how much money to increase or decrease or adjust to reallocate, yada, That is going to be the point where you say, if I have to hand this off to somebody, I need to also see the same top line metrics that they…

And for anybody running a bunch of campaigns, like, you know, where you've got five different campaigns, 10 different campaigns going, some ABO, some interest groups, some, you know, you got some cost caps going, you got all sorts of different things happening.
