I don't read many books and what I mean by that is I buy lots of books I skim most of them and quickly realize that it's not worth reading and so then I toss them aside because just because someone wrote a book doesn't mean you need to finish it has nothing to do with you it means that they didn't organize it well I have found that books that are older in general tend to be better because the reason the person wrote it was a different intention they wrote it because they wanted to transmit knowledge to the Next Generation whereas the people who write books now are either writing for money…

And this is where I think people go wrong is that the best marketers in the world find the best products because they know, like, I feel confident that I can sell a lot of stuff. But because I don't care about the first sale, I want to care about the 10th sale. I want to make sure the thing that I deliver is exceptional so that my second sale is bigger than my first one, right? If my first book sucked, no one would have come to my first book launch with leads. If the leads book had sucked, no one would have come to the money models launch, right? If the products and the playbooks and money…

You know why I know that? Look at every other fucking person who has a following and their books don't fucking sell even though they have a big following. They launch it and then they stop selling. Why? Because the book sucked. They had a ghostwriter. They voiced it in. Whatever. And they make their whatever, five million bucks or whatever it is.

instead of hiring a publisher to publish my books, I take over a second portion of the business. And so rather than relying on publishers to print and distribute the stuff that I have, I print and distribute the books that I sell because I have the relationship with the customer, you guys, and I'm the one who wrote the book.

influencer who wants to get the New York Times bestseller, whatever. And so for me, I give away chapters left and right. I make it free on my podcast. No publishers like, wait, I want to buy the rights to your book so that you can only give it away for free. But I want to do that. And so in order to maintain control, I maintained ownership over my stuff because even in the short term, I could have taken a few million dollar check from a publisher just up front to write the book. But I'd so much rather own it for the rest of my life and be able to give it away as I see fit because I know, at…

The thing is that people think that word of mouth is dead. That book right now, if you just do the math, is selling like $250,000 a month of books off of word of mouth and no funnels. People can spread stuff faster than ever before. We're just not taking advantage of it because we're too greedy and too short-term thinking.
